'It is never boring,' Max Verstappen claims he’s ‘challenging’ himself every race weekend

Max Verstappen has dominated Formula 1 in recent years. The Dutch driver has won three consecutive world titles since defeating Lewis Hamilton at the infamous 2021 Abu Dhabi GP. However, fans have criticized Verstappen’s dominance and even labeled it ‘boring.’ Now, the reigning world champion has affirmed that for him every race remains a challenge.

Verstappen has won four of the first six races this season, similar to 2023. However, this year, the Dutch driver has faced stiff competition from Ferrari and McLaren as Carlos Sainz and Lando Norris won a race each. Nevertheless, the 26-year-old claimed that the early part of the season has not been as straightforward this time around.

The first five races were not as straightforward as people try to make out. Max Verstappen said, as reported by RacingNews365

Moreover, Max Verstappen highlighted that despite seeming like he has faced no challenge since last season, the Dutch driver continues to challenge himself every race to get the maximum out of the car. Subsequently, Verstappen hit out at fans calling his dominance as ‘boring.’ The reigning world champion asserted that he doesn’t need another team or driver to push him to the limit.

For so long now, from the outside, it seems like there is no challenge - but I am challenging every single weekend to try and get the most out of it. For me, it is never boring, because I don't need another team or driver to give me that challenge. Max Verstappen stated

Max Verstappen has shattered several records in the past couple of years. The three-time world champion has solidified his place in the history books. So much so, that Verstappen previously reckoned that he no longer had any goals for his F1 career.

The Dutch driver claimed that he was not missing any element in his current dominance. Verstappen affirmed that he was not waiting to get more appreciation and validation from the paddock. As Max Verstappen and Red Bull have met all their targets in F1’s ground-effect era, with the team working hard to find more pace.

It is not like I am missing something or that I'm waiting for something to come to suddenly feel more appreciation or for more validation for what we are doing. Max Verstappen asserted

Certainly, Max Verstappen remains hungry for more wins in Formula 1. The Dutch driver remains unbothered by any criticism from fans or the paddock and focuses on his performance. As such, the reigning world champion would be hoping to bounce back after the Miami GP and clinch victory this weekend in Imola.
